See You in September is a romantic comedy film. It was released on February 8, 2011.
Plot
The film centers around Lindsay (Estella Warren) a beautiful woman who seemingly has it all, but is deeply afraid of commitment. When her boyfriend Steven (Christopher Sieber) proposes to her she breaks of their relationship and asks never to see him again. Two months later, when she finds out that her therapist (Whoopi Goldberg) takes a vacation during August each year, she feels shocked and abandoned. After spending the night on craigslist she decides to rant about her feelings on the matter.
I have just spent the last two hours in vain trying to find a new therapist, why?... Because every damn therapist, my own included, is on vacation! Not for five days like the rest of the human race. Not for a couple weeks because they really need a mental break but for an entire month! What? Do they get a charter flight to one big "island of Shrinks?" Why do all therapists leave for the month of August? And what do they expect us to do when they go?
I hope you wont find this forward strange or inappropriate, and trust me I've never done anything like this before, but I have an idea. Clearly we are all stressed and on edge over the recent news of the mass exodus of our respective therapists. Why should we sit back and accept such abandonment, Why not band together to support and encourage one another. Strange yes, but think about it. 31 days, we cant just wait for them to come back, why not join together! Who is in?
As every one is arriving to the group two armed thieves Ralph (Joel Garland) & Stevie (Jason Kravits) enter the building, rob them all and tie them together with duct tape before leaving. Unable to free themselves they decide to have the group sessions anyway. It is revealed that Lewis (James McDaniel) has a drug problem, Max (David Eigenberg) is in denial over his wife leaving, Dagney (Lindsey Kraft) is afraid her fiance is cheating on her and A.J. (Justin Kirk) hates his birth mother after he was given up for adoption at birth. In response to a call from Ralph about a robbery in progress, police break down the door and rescue the group. The next morning, the group meets up with Max at his apartment to encourage him to remove his ex-wife's name from the mail box, and after he lets his feelings out about what happened, Lindsay runs out of the room. When Monica (Liza Lapira) follows her, Lindsay explains she thinks she is just like Inga - destroying guy's lives and she saw for the first time 'the aftermath of tropical storm Lindsay' and decides to go home, then receives a phone call from Dagney. Lindsay meets up with Dagney, who thinks her fiance is having an affair after a 'bimbo' left a message on their answering machine. A.J. arrives shortly after and together they offer Dagney advice and support to go home and work things out. Afterwards they both play pool and talk about their problems together. At the next group session, Max tells the group he is going to start dating again. The group decides to be at the restaurant to support him. Roger is the entertainment and is a disaster. The girl leaves after finding out the group is there. Later on Monica challenges A.J. to date Lindsay until September without sex. A.J. and Lindsay go on a few dates, doing yoga and going on picnics, and she helps motivate him to try get in touch with his biological family. At another group session, Eve starts insulting every one in the group and after a fight with Dagney, she drops her bag revealing a recording device. She had been taping the group sessions and is subsequently kicked out of the group. Lindsay and A.J. go bowling but meet her ex, Steven. That night, after A.J. tells her he loves her, they break up. Lindsay goes on a few dates with Steven again, but before he is about to propose again, she leaves him and looks for A.J. She says she had the perfect life and A.J. made it all messy, but she prefers messy and loves A.J. Two months later they are engaged, and Lindsay successfully sets Monica and Max up on a blind date.
The film ends with the group (without Eve) getting together again to watch Eve's new film based on them called 'The Group'; however, none of them want to watch it and they go to a bar next door instead.
